Exminster Community Garden

Established in 2025, Exminster Community Garden is transforming an unused church allotment in Devon into a welcoming space where local people can grow food, learn new skills and connect with nature.

With support from the TCV Chestnut Fund, the group purchased child-sized gardening tools, planters, wheelbarrows, a sunshade and a child-sized picnic bench, helping make the garden more accessible and engaging for children and families.

The impact is already being seen. Around 30 pupils from Exeter School recently visited the garden to take part in hands-on gardening activities, and the group is now planning a programme of themed sessions for accompanied children during the summer holidays.

“The tools and equipment have made it much more fun and easier for children to get involved. We’re excited to build on this by offering themed garden sessions that we hope to repeat in future years.”
